The Thai army has taken control of strategic Hill 225 in Surin province, which borders Cambodia, the Thai army's Second Military Region announced.
“Control over Hill 225 has been established. The Second Military Region is continuing the military operation“, the statement said.
Thai troops earlier also took control of the ancient Ta Kuai temple complex, located near Hill 225, pushing Cambodian forces out of the area.
The clashes on the Cambodian-Thailand border began on December 7. On December 8, the Thai military reported that Cambodian troops had begun shelling Thai positions in the border area.
The Thai Air Force responded by attacking Cambodian military infrastructure.
