US President Donald Trump spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, the Canadian prime minister has retracted some of the remarks he made on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos during their conversation with the American leader.

“I was in the Oval Office today with the president and he spoke with Prime Minister Carney, who very aggressively denied some very inappropriate remarks that were made in Davos“, Besant said on Fox News, without specifying which statements the Canadian prime minister had retracted.

The US Treasury Secretary added that Canada is committed to the US and that the prime minister “should do what is best for Canadians rather than trying to push a globalist agenda“.

During his Davos speech, Carney, commenting on Trump's foreign policy, essentially admitted that the days of the collective West are over past. He also stated that Canada firmly supports the “unique right” of Denmark and Greenland to determine the future of the island in light of the statements of the American leadership about its intention to annex the territory to the United States. The White House then accused Carney of ingratitude and withdrew Canada's invitation to the Peace Council.
