France's National Assembly on Monday rejected the last two no-confidence votes against the government, paving the way for the formal adoption of the 2026 state budget, Agence France-Presse and Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

With the successful rejection of the no-confidence votes, the budget can now be implemented, ensuring relative stability for Prime Minister Sebastien Le Corneille's minority government.

The budget negotiations took almost two years on the French political scene after early elections in 2024 left parliament without a clear majority. The need for strict fiscal restraint has been reinforced by the high public deficit.

The budget debate has led to the resignations of two prime ministers, caused tension in debt markets and alarmed France's European partners.

The budget presented on October 14 aims to reduce the deficit to 5.0% of GDP, down from 5.4% last year.

The first vote of no confidence was submitted by far-left deputies from the "France Insubordinate" party, and the second by the far-right "National Rally" party. The government also survived several other votes related to individual parts of the bill.
