Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said today that if Ukraine does not resume oil supplies to his country on Monday, he will ask the relevant Slovak companies to stop emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine, world agencies reported, quoted by BTA.

„Slovakia is a proud and sovereign country, and I am a proud and sovereign Slovak. "If oil supplies to Slovakia are not resumed on Monday, I will ask SEPS (Slovak electricity transmission system - the company operating the electricity transmission network in Slovakia - ed.) to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine," Fico wrote on his Facebook page.

According to the prime minister, to stabilize Ukraine's energy system in January 2026, it was necessary to supply twice as much electricity as for the entire year 2025. "The West may not object to the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, but Slovakia cannot perceive Slovak-Ukrainian relations as a one-way ticket, beneficial only to Ukraine," he said.

Fico noted that the suspension of gas supplies to Slovakia alone caused damage of 500 million euros, while the suspension of oil transit caused even greater damage and caused logistical difficulties. "Given (Ukrainian President Volodymyr) Zelensky's unacceptable attitude towards Slovakia as a hostile country, I consider the decision not to join the military loan for Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros to be absolutely correct," he added.
