A new round of mass student protests has begun in Iran, marking the 40th day in memory of those killed during the January protests, the National Council of Resistance of Iran announced on its website.
The statement stated that protests were also held in the cities of Mashhad, Isfahan and Shiraz.
The demonstrations were accompanied by anti-government chants.
The British newspaper Financial Times also reported on the protests in the republic.
“On the first day of the new academic semester, Iranian students from several universities staged anti-government protests, clashing with pro-government groups on campus,“ the article said.
According to journalists, on Saturday, On February 21, students from Amir Kabir and Sharif universities in Tehran gathered on campus, chanting slogans against the Iranian government. The new wave of protests is said to be due to deteriorating relations between Iran and the United States.
