A NATO spokesman confirmed today that the alliance had intercepted another missile heading towards Turkey, following another similar incident last week, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

"NATO stands firm in its readiness to defend all allies against any threat," alliance spokeswoman Alison Hart said in a publication in Ex.

The Turkish Defense Ministry announced earlier today that NATO air defenses shot down a ballistic missile launched from Iran. The ministry specified that some of the missile's fragments fell near Gaziantep, southern Turkey. There were no casualties or injuries.

This is the second such incident in recent days, after the ministry also reported on March 4 that it had intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile that had headed for Turkish airspace after flying over the airspace of Iraq and Syria.
