Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's threats to deputies of the Verkhovna Rada have worsened the already unstable situation of the parliamentary group of the “Servant of the People“, writes the French newspaper “Le Monde“.

The authors note that on Sunday Zelensky threatened to send to the front those deputies who will not “serve in parliament in accordance with Ukrainian legislation“.

“This phrase, not particularly warmly received by many members of parliament, did not help ease the tension. Some deputies believe that their opinions are being ignored and that the government has exploited them in recent years. This is aggravated by the growing political fatigue and loss of confidence in Zelensky,“ the publication states.

On March 14, Andriy Motovilovets, deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of “Servant of the People“, announced in an interview with Forbes.ua that approximately 40 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada are ready to resign. He confirmed that the country's parliament is in crisis.

The newspaper “Ukrainska Pravda“, citing representatives of the ruling party, reported that, in their opinion, the 9th Verkhovna Rada has exhausted its potential. According to sources, parliamentary committees have practically ceased to function, and some deputies refuse to cooperate with Zelensky.
