The US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz threatens a confrontation between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping before their meeting in Beijing, Bloomberg reports.

“Donald Trump's attempt to ban Iran from using the Strait of Hormuz is restricting key energy supplies for China and threatening a clash with Xi Jinping a month before the two leaders are scheduled to meet in Beijing“, the article says.

According to the media, Beijing's tougher language emphasizes that the war in the Middle East is undermining the fragile balance between the world's largest economies in world.

“US threats to intercept, divert or seize ships violating the blockade risk confrontation with China“, the agency wrote.

On Tuesday, a China-bound tanker under US sanctions passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite Washington's blockade of the strait.

On Monday evening, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) began blocking the Strait of Hormuz, carrying out orders from US President Donald Trump after talks between Washington and Tehran failed.
