Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kesh Patel announced that he is suing The Atlantic magazine over an article criticizing him for not showing up for work regularly and drinking excessively.

“We'll see the entire fake news team in court“, Patel wrote on his X page on Friday, commenting on the magazine's publication. Meanwhile, FBI Assistant Director Erica Knight confirmed on the same social network that “a lawsuit will be filed“.

On Friday, The Atlantic published an article citing sources who said that many FBI officials believe Patel's resignation as head of the agency is likely. According to the magazine, Patel often misses work, excessively uses company vehicles, including airplanes, for personal purposes, and abuses alcohol.

According to the publication's sources, the FBI director's behavior is considered by some of his colleagues to be a threat to national security.
