Iraq resumed oil exports from its southern terminals last night after a more than month-long interruption caused by shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

One tanker has already started loading crude, four energy sources said.

The Maltese-flagged tanker “Agios Fanourios I” is anchored at southern Iraqi terminals and is expected to load about two million barrels of “Basra” crude, Iraqi oil and energy sources said yesterday.

The vessel entered the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday on its second attempted to pass through the waterway after it was one of several tankers that attempted to enter the Gulf on Sunday after the US-Israeli truce was announced, maritime traffic data showed.

The tanker is due to head to the Nghi Son refinery in Vietnam after loading crude oil at southern Iraqi ports, trade sources said.

In addition to the Agios Fanourios I, another tanker is expected to arrive at southern export terminals in Iraq within two days. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said yesterday that the Strait of Hormuz would be open to all commercial ships during the US-brokered 10-day truce between Israel and Lebanon.
