A new tragedy unfolded in southeastern Ukraine at dawn on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The Russian army carried out a powerful airstrike on the regional center Zaporozhye, using guided aerial bombs (GABs). As a result of the attack, at least two people died.
The information about the attack and the casualties was officially confirmed on social networks by the head of the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov. According to the regional head's statement on his official Telegram channel, the Russian guided aerial bomb directly hit the city. Shortly after 5:00 a.m. local and Bulgarian time, Fedorov warned of an imminent threat of enemy aerial bombs for the Zaporizhia region, and the subsequent explosions led to fatal consequences.
Ukrainian media, including the news agency “Interfax-Ukraine“ and the newspaper “Ukrainska Pravda“, report that rescue teams are already on the ground and working to clear the debris. The exact number of victims and the extent of material damage to residential buildings in the urban area are currently being clarified.
Zaporozhye and surrounding settlements continue to be subjected to almost daily shelling with modernized Russian guided bombs, which cause severe damage to civilian infrastructure.
