The Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Magyar, assured Bulgaria of Hungary's full solidarity regarding the attack in the Black Sea, the Hungarian news agency MTI reported, quoted by BTA.

"At dawn, two merchant ships were hit in a drone attack in Bulgarian territorial waters of the Black Sea. Hungary assures Bulgaria of its full solidarity", Peter Magyar said on social networks.

According to reports in local media, one ship sank and another was damaged as a result of a drone attack in the Black Sea, off the coast of Bulgaria. Information indicates that merchant ships were involved in the incident. It is not yet known whether there were any injuries. Rescue operations are underway, MTI notes.

Today's incident is the first of its kind in Bulgaria's EEZ in the Black Sea, AFP and AP note.

The information about the attack on the two ships in Bulgaria's EEZ was also reported by Reuters. It reports that the office of Bulgarian President Yotova confirmed the information about the attack, and Prime Minister Rumen Radev convened a meeting with key ministers and representatives of the security services.

Since Russia's war against Ukraine began more than four years ago, Russian drones have violated the airspace of European countries and mines have been floating in the Black Sea, posing a threat to key trade and energy routes. The AP notes that the origin of the drones has not yet been established.
