Russian political scientist Sergey Karaganov, who called for a “preemptive nuclear strike” across Europe, ended up with an apartment in the German capital Berlin, BILD newspaper learned.
Karaghanov, a former adviser to Vladimir Putin and his close friend, owns a 52 square meter apartment in Berlin and rents it out, receiving 850 euros a month.
In March 2023, Karaganov learned that he would soon be included in the sanctions lists, after which he transferred the property to his wife. However, the authorities reacted quickly and declared this donation illegal.
German authorities contested the legality of the deal and it was declared void. Thus, Karaganov remains the owner of the apartment, but because of the sanctions he cannot receive income from it. In December 2023, it became clear that Karaganov also has an apartment in Venice, with an area of 84 square meters.
In June 2023, Karaganov published an article entitled “Difficult, but necessary decision”. He says that to win in Ukraine, Russia must launch a “preemptive nuclear strike” across Europe to “break the will of the West”. According to Karaganov, this would not lead to a global nuclear war, as the US would not stand up for its allies, Meduza recalls.
Such hypocrisy is very typical of the Russian political class close to Putin. Russian politicians spit on Western countries while their children study there and also own properties in Western Europe.
