North Korea will continue to build a crushing military force to protect its sovereignty and regional peace, Kim Yo-chen, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, said Reuters and BTA, citing North Korea's KCTA news agency.
Kim Yo-chen said that a series of military exercises conducted by the US armed forces in the region this year are disturbing the regional security situation.
The armed forces of the United States and South Korea have been conducting a series of training exercises of varying scale and intensity in recent months to improve their readiness to respond to military threats coming from North Korea, as quoted by BTA.
About 100 aircraft took part in a two-week air exercise this month, according to data from the South Korean armed forces.
North Korea claims that US military exercises are preparation for nuclear war against Pyongyang.
Washington and Seoul say the drills are defensive in nature and are held frequently to maintain readiness.
