The global peace summit in Switzerland will be the first real opportunity to start establishing a just peace in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily video address, quoted by Ukrinform and BTA agencies.

"These days, together with Switzerland, we finished sending invitations to the summit. The specific dates on which the meeting will take place will be June 15 and 16. This will be the first phase and essentially the first real opportunity to start establishing a just peace in Ukraine," the Ukrainian president said.

He added that officials are currently working to bring leaders from geographic regions that are still not committed to the initiative to participate in the meeting.

Zelensky notes that only global participation can get Russia to negotiate for peace, which is why Ukraine is working to attract as many participants as possible to the Swiss summit.

In his words, the Kremlin will try to do everything in its power to disrupt the upcoming meeting.

"I have instructed the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Army, each at his level, to work with our partners to accelerate the delivery of weapons under the envisaged packages and signed agreements. Speed of delivery is important. Today we have no problems with the contents of the packages. I am grateful to the US Congress for the decision, but the speed of delivery and implementation of the decisions is something that should not be a problem either. We expect the weapons to arrive in Ukraine for our fighters," Zelensky also said.
