Part of the state remained under water

Storms caused new disasters in the area around the American city of Houston, after parts of the state of Texas were flooded this week, BNR reported.

A representative of one of the counties described the situation as catastrophic and said that several hundred buildings there were at risk of flooding. Over 20 people in the county were rescued.

Authorities in the area closed schools and highways, and roads and cars were flooded earlier in the week. Hundreds of people were saved in southeast Texas.

A flash flood warning is in effect until Tuesday morning .

Residents along a stretch of one of the state's rivers were ordered to evacuate.
