Police in the US arrested dozens of people during the break-up of pro-Palestinian protest tent camps at the Pennsylvania State University, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Arizona State University, the Associated Press reported, citing BTA.

Police also used tear gas to break up the pro-Palestinian protest camp at Arizona State University in Tucson.

Protest camps have sprung up on university campuses in the US and Europe. In them, the students called on their universities to stop doing business with Israel or with companies that support Israel's war on Gaza.

According to statistics from the Associated Press, since April 18, there have been protest camps in at least 75 educational institutions in the United States. Nearly 2,900 people were arrested at 57 colleges and universities during break-ups or during protests that turned into clashes with law enforcement.
