Passenger train derails after collision in central Buenos Aires, many injured

At least 60 people injured after hitting machine and empty carriage

Passenger train collides with locomotive and empty carriage and derails in central Buenos Aires, injuring at least 60 people, reported “Bloomberg”, quoted by BNR.

Emergency services, firefighters and police are at the scene of the accident in the neighborhood of "Palermo" in the center of the Argentine capital.

Newspaper "Clarin" reported at least 60 injured, half of whom were transported to area hospitals. No deaths have been reported.

City firefighters reported that no one was trapped on the trains. The uninjured passengers were evacuated along the train tracks. The cause of the crash remains unclear.

Train traffic on the San Martin line was interrupted after the accident, the Minister of Transport announced. Almost all transport services, including trains, were suspended on May 9 during the 24-hour strike organized in protest against the government of President Javier Millais.
