New rains in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul

The previous rain wave killed 126 people and 141 are missing

New rains since yesterday are pouring in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, which was badly affected by the previous rain a wave that claimed the lives of 126 people, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

756 people were injured in the disaster, and 141 people are still missing.

A total of 411,000 people were forced to leave their homes, of which 71,000 were sheltered in specially designated centers.

Authorities have mobilized thousands of soldiers to distribute tons of food aid and other essentials. In the capital city of the state, Porto Alegre, there is not enough drinking water, despite the constant traffic of tanker trucks that supply hospitals, hotels, housing cooperatives.

The floods damaged 85,000 residential buildings. Whole areas are devastated. Their restoration will cost 19 billion reais.
