Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was shot a day ago, said in a video address on social networks back in April , that the frustration of a part of the society that is dissatisfied with the results of the presidential elections in the country is intensifying, fueled by some Slovak media, and this may lead to the murder of one of the politicians in the government, reported RIA Novosti.
„Government politicians are being cursed obscenely in the streets, I'm just waiting for this frustration, which is intensively fueled by media like Dennik N, Sme and Aktuality, to lead to the murder of one of the first government politicians. And I am not exaggerating one millimeter,”, Fizo said in a video message published on April 10 on his Facebook page.
According to the prime minister, the disappointment of part of the society was provoked by the results of the presidential elections in Slovakia, in which Peter Pellegrini won, and not the liberal candidate Ivan Korchok, who was supported by part of the voters.
The assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Fico was carried out on Wednesday by 71-year-old writer Juraj Sintula after a government meeting in the town of Gandlova, 190 kilometers from Bratislava. The Prime Minister was transported by helicopter to the hospital. The Ministry of the Interior announced that Fico's condition is critical. During the attempt, the assailant shot five times at the chief of staff while the prime minister wanted to greet the people. According to the Ministry of the Interior, the shooter was politically motivated.
Fizo has repeatedly opposed the delivery of arms to Ukraine and has also said he would block Ukraine's membership of NATO because it would mean the start of World War III. According to Fico, the conflict in Ukraine started back in 2014 with the “imperturbable behavior of Ukrainian neo-Nazis” and Russia has been misled into believing that NATO will stop expanding.
The prime minister of Slovakia has also spoken out against sending troops to Ukraine.
According to him, the eventual sending of NATO troops to this country would lead to an escalation of the conflict. Fico also stated that Slovakia is not one of the countries that are interested in making an enemy out of Russia.
