The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said in an interview with "ABC News" television. (ABC News), whose team accompanied him during a visit to one of the hospitals in the city of Kharkiv, that several additional "Patriot" air defense systems are needed. (Patriot) so that Kharkiv can be protected from Russian attacks, reported Ukrinform, quoted by BTA.

"The situation is very serious. We cannot afford to lose Kharkiv. All we need are two Patriot systems. Russia will not be able to occupy Kharkiv if we have them," the Ukrainian president emphasized.

According to Zelensky, in the last few days, hundreds of people have been killed and wounded against the background of the new Russian offensive north of Kharkiv. A large number of those who died in the fighting were local residents of the region, so it was important for him to come to Kharkiv and support the Ukrainian troops.

"The world is to blame. They enabled (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to occupy (Ukrainian territory). But now the world can help," Zelensky said, answering a question about whether the United States is to blame for what is happening in Kharkiv.

The journalist from "ABC News" noted during his conversation with the Ukrainian president that many Americans are concerned about how much money is being spent on aid to Ukraine and that in a presidential election year it will be one of the main issues American voters will focus on.

"This money is not given to Ukraine,", Zelensky answered. "This is money being spent in American factories, American jobs being created... And we're not just fighting for our freedom. If it wasn't Ukraine, it would be another country," he added.

During his working tour in the Kharkiv region, Zelensky also met with the soldiers of the 92nd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and awarded them with state awards, the presidential press service reported.

"I would like to ask you to convey my thanks to your comrades of the 92nd Brigade. You did not let the enemy pass, you are strong warriors. I am also grateful to the other soldiers from Kharkiv who are fighting in other brigades for the defense of Ukraine. Today we are here on this all-important axis. Thank you, keep it up! I wish you and your families and friends strength, victory and health," Zelensky said.
