Spain summoned its ambassador to Argentina after the words of the Argentine President Javier Millay, which caused a controversy, conveyed France Press, quoted by BTA.

The Spanish government said Millay's words were an insult to the country and its Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. A statement from Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez said Madrid demanded a public apology from Millay.

Milley made the polemical speech at a far-right forum in Madrid organized by the Vox party. He was an honored guest there.

During this forum, the president, known for his shocking statements and in open conflict with the Spanish government for several weeks, attacked the left with insulting words, but also attacked Sánchez's partner Begoña, accusing her of being corrupt. but without mentioning her by name.

"The world elites do not realize the extent to which the ideas of socialism can be devastating," Millay said.

"They don't know what type of society and country it can lead to and what type of people clinging to power and what level of abuse it can create,'' Milley added. And then he said: "When you have a corrupt woman, you stain yourself and take five days to think." In this way, he refers to Sanchez and his wife, who was defeated in corruption.

The foreign minister of Spain called these statements unprecedented in the history of international relations and bilateral relations. He added that if Millay does not apologize, then Spain will take all appropriate measures to protect its sovereignty and dignity.

Milley is on a three-day visit to Spain, during which, however, he did not meet with either King Felipe VI or Pedro Sánchez, who supported his opponent Sergio Massa in the presidential elections in Argentina.
