Eiffel Tower admission will cost 20 per cent more - up to 35.30 euros, from June 17.

Prices to get to the top of the iconic Parisian landmark by lift will increase from €29.40 to €35.30 for adults, from €14.70 to €17.70 for visitors aged 12-24 and from 7 .40 to 8.90 euros for children from 4 to 11 years old, people with disabilities and their companion, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

Access by stairs to the 2nd floor instead of 11.80 euros will now cost 14.20 euros for adults, from 5.90 to 7.10 euros for youth and from 3 to 3.60 euros for children.

Access will remain free for children under 4 and people with active joint income (RSA).

The increases were announced after a strike last February by staff unhappy with the site's management led to its closure for six days.

The new prices are justified by the impact of the health crisis related to COVID-19. "For the period from 2020 to 2022, the company operating the monument (Société d'Exploitation de la tour Eiffel - SETE) suffered an operating loss of around 113 million euros", the town hall wrote.

Added to these revenue losses were the additional costs of repair work, mainly related to the ongoing paint campaign, complicated by the discovery of traces of lead. These activities have been estimated by the French capital city hall at a value of 136 million euros.

After dropping to 1.5 million visitors in 2020, in 2023 the symbol of Paris and France was visited by nearly 6 million people.
