Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was today released from the hospital in the central Slovak city of Banska Bistrica, where he was recuperating after an assassination attempt against him, and taken to his apartment in Bratislava, Slovak media reported, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The agency notes that the hospital in Banska Bistrica and the government office have not yet responded to a request for comment.
Earlier today, the hospital announced that Fico underwent additional control examinations, which confirmed the positive result of the development of his health condition and he began rehabilitation.
An assailant shot Fico with four bullets at close range as the prime minister greeted supporters in the central Slovak town of Handlova on May 15, where he had come for a government meeting.
Fifty-nine-year-old Fico was hit in the stomach and taken to the hospital in Banska Bistrica in serious condition. He immediately underwent more than five hours of surgery and another two days later.
The attacker, 71-year-old Juraj Ts., was arrested on the spot and charged with attempted murder.
