Israeli Military Intelligence issued clear warnings of an impending attack more than two weeks before “Hamas“ to invade southern Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7 last year, Israeli public television "Can" reported, quoted by DPA and BTA.
Plans to attack military bases and settlements and take up to 250 hostages, including women and children, are outlined in documents sent to the "Gaza" of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on September 19, “Kan“ reported.
The report was prepared by the IDF's authoritative 8200 unit, which is responsible for intelligence gathering, but was apparently ignored by senior officers. The worst-case scenario considered in the documents is that several dozen terrorists could invade Israel through three points.
„The security system at the time was working towards pacifying the Gaza Strip by improving the living conditions of the civilian population, issuing work permits to Palestinians and lifting restrictions on goods,” reported the military correspondent of “Kan” ;.
The IDF relied on border fortifications reaching deep into the interior of the enclave, but on October 7, everything collapsed, the correspondent summarizes. The senior officers in the "Gaza" Division apparently they ignored the warnings, notes DPA.
