China has strongly opposed unilateral sanctions, stressing that such measures are not in accordance with international law. This statement was made by Lin Jiang, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasizing the country's position on the issue, BTA reports.

The issue came into focus after Japan's decision to impose trade restrictions on companies based in China. The move is part of Japan's latest sanctions targeting individuals and organizations believed to support Russia's military actions in Ukraine. The Japanese Foreign Ministry made the announcement, signaling a significant step in the international response to the ongoing conflict.

In response to these developments, the Chinese spokesman defended the nation's right to engage in normal economic and trade cooperation with Russia. Lin Jiang emphasized that such cooperation is based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit. This defense was made during a regular press briefing in response to press inquiries about China's position on sanctions and its trade relationship with Russia.

As tensions continue to rise on the global stage, China has made it clear that it opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law. The country is asserting its right to maintain normal trade relations with Russia amid increasing international sanctions related to the conflict in Ukraine.
