5 on the Richter scale shook the coast of Japan

The tremor was registered off the island of Honshu

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5 was registered off the coast of the Japanese island of Honshu, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported, BTA reported.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 21 km northeast of the city of Iwaki (Fukushima Prefecture) with a population of about 357 thousand people, at a depth of 31 km.

There were no reports of casualties or damage. No danger of high tsunami waves has been announced, TASS reported.
