The authorities in Georgia: We will provide our armed forces with everything they need, despite the EU

The European Union has decided to freeze the granting of 30 million euros intended for the country's defense ministry

The authorities in Georgia will provide their armed forces everything necessary despite the decision of the European Union to freeze the allocation of 30 million euros intended for the country's defense ministry, the general secretary of the governing party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" told journalists. Kakha Kaladze, quoted by TASS and BTA.

"We used to get thanks for the fact that our military in peacekeeping missions is more numerous than that of NATO countries. And today the European Union comes out and says it is canceling the money for the army and giving it to [former Georgian ombudsman Nino] Lomdjaria and [NGO representative Eke] Gigauri. The army will lose nothing. "The authorities will do everything possible to ensure that she will have everything she needs to be at her best," Kaladze said.

"The authorities defend the sovereignty of this country, statehood, every citizen of our country. No one will be given the opportunity to Ukrainize the country. Peace will be preserved at the cost of life. We do not plan to join any sanctions. We need stability and development of the country", added Kaladze.

Yesterday, the EU ambassador in Tbilisi, Pavel Herchinski, announced that a decision was made to freeze 30 million euros, which were supposed to be allocated to the Georgian Ministry of Defense. Herchinski also said that the process of joining Georgia to the EU has been stopped.
