Kiev accused Moscow of killing two prisoners of war

The victims were captured near Zaporozhye last month

Ukraine's chief prosecutor Andriy Kostin yesterday accused Russian forces of killing two Ukrainian servicemen captured last month in Zaporozhye, which is partially occupied by Moscow region, in South-Eastern Ukraine, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

He said a video posted on social media showed Russian servicemen ordering two unarmed Ukrainian soldiers to kneel in a trench before being shot. At the moment, there is no comment from the Russian side, notes Reuters, with the caveat that it cannot verify the authenticity of the video.

"The video clearly shows that the Ukrainians are surrendering and are not a threat. "However, the occupiers cynically executed unarmed men," Kostin wrote on the social platform "X". He adds that the month of the murders was established by the investigation.

Russia has systematically denied allegations of war crimes since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which Kiev claims are close to 130,000, according to Reuters.
