Lithuania temporarily suspends the visits of its ministers to Hungary for meetings at the European level union, after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán visited Russia without consulting the decision with the other EU countries, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Hungary took over the rotating presidency of the EU Council earlier this month.

Lithuania does not want to participate at the ministerial level, but could possibly send deputy ministers, the news agency "Baltic News Service" reported.

It has not yet been decided whether Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda will participate in the informal EU summit in Budapest, a spokesman for the presidential office said, quoted by DPA.

Yesterday, Sweden also announced that it will participate in the July meetings in Hungary only at the level of civil servants.

Hungary's actions are harmful and there must be consequences, Swedish EU Affairs Minister Jesika Rosvall said.

According to Rosvall, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Poland also intend to respond to Orban's actions in a similar way.
