Israel's call to exclude Turkey from NATO will not find support in the alliance, said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, quoted by the Turkish media, BTA reported.

Turkey's membership in NATO cannot be questioned, Fidan pointed out to the pro-government "Sabah".

Over the weekend, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened that “Turkey could enter Israel, as it has done in the past in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh,", though he did not specify what kind of intervention he had in mind. After the Turkish head of state's threats, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz called for Turkey to be excluded from NATO.

Nothing will come of the Israeli foreign minister's call, Fidan said, adding that, moreover, “Turkey is not the only country whose views on the Palestinian issue are at odds with the West”.

There are other countries taking a stand against Israel, but the tone of their voices may differ. In the context of the recognition of the state of Palestine, Spain, Ireland and Norway have officially expressed their position, Fidan said.

Relations between Israel and Turkey have deteriorated sharply since the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that began in October 2023
