Turkey today submitted a request to the International Court of Justice of the United Nations to join the trial brought against Israel by the Republic of South Africa, Turkish state TV TRT-Haber reported. quoted by BTA.

The 47-page document was submitted to the court at 4:30 p.m. Turkish time (and Bulgarian time) by Turkish Ambassador to The Hague Selçuk Yunal and a delegation of the Turkish Parliament led by Legal Affairs Commission Chairman Junayt Yuksel.

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Yonçü Keçeli said Ankara's appeal was based on Article 63 of the UN International Court of Justice Statute.

No country in the world is above international law. The case filed at the UN International Court of Justice is of great importance to ensure that Israel's crimes do not go unpunished, the diplomat wrote on his social network account Ex.

He called on the Israeli authorities to stop attacks on the Gaza Strip and to open the Rafah crossing as soon as possible for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

On Monday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Turkey will send a request to the UN International Court of Justice on August 7 to join South Africa's claim against Israel.

A few minutes after Turkey's case was submitted to the UN International Court of Justice, Fidan wrote on his account in "X" that “emboldened by the impunity for its crimes, Israel is killing more and more innocent Palestinians every day.

The international community must do its part to stop the genocide and put the necessary pressure on Israel and its supporters. Turkey will make every effort to realize this goal, Fidan also pointed out.
