The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held a telephone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro, the Directorate of Communications of the Turkish Presidency reported, as quoted by BTA.

During the conversation that took place last night, bilateral relations between Turkey and Venezuela were discussed, as well as a number of regional and global issues.

President Erdoğan wished his colleague that the developments after the elections in Venezuela would be favorable. He also indicated that Turkey will continue to support the dialogue process in Venezuela and wished for peace, prosperity and well-being of the Venezuelan people.

President Erdogan said he “appreciates Venezuela's support for Palestine against Israeli oppression,” said the text of the Directorate of Communications.

In a statement by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, published on the social network "Ex" after the talks between the two leaders, it is stated that Erdogan has invited Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro for an official visit to Turkey.

Following the July 28 election, Venezuela's electoral body declared President Nicolás Maduro, who has been in power since 2013, the winner. However, detailed results from individual polling stations have not yet been published.

The opposition accuses the government of electoral fraud and claims the victory of its candidate Edmundo Gonzalez.
