The representative of the Kremlin also explained what the Maritime College of the Russian Federation, created by decree of President Vladimir Putin, is. According to him, the body "is about to analyze the legal and regulatory framework in the field of maritime activities and update a number of documents, taking into account the achievement of the national development goals of our country approved by the president, as well as the neutralization of external threats".
"In particular, the newly created Council for Strategic Development of the Navy will become a 'think tank' that will focus on the preparation of the Navy's development strategy," Patrushev added.
Earlier this week, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of the Maritime College of the Russian Federation, headed by Nikolai Patrushev, former Secretary of the Security Council and adviser to the head of state, TASS recalls.
According to the decree, the council includes advice on the strategic development of the Russian Navy, on the protection of Russia's national interests in the Arctic, as well as on the development and support of Russia's maritime activities.
Among the tasks of the collegium specified in the document are strengthening the defense and security of the Russian Federation in the World Ocean, developing the Northern Sea Route as a means of national transport communication of the Russian Federation and ensuring Russia's guaranteed access to world transport communications, as well as prevention of pollution of the marine environment and protection of its biological diversity.
