Suspect fires a barrage of bullets at law enforcement officers

A sheriff's deputy has been shot dead in the US state of Georgia after responded to a report of a domestic scandal, reported the Associated Press, quoted by BTA..

The call about the altercation in suburban Hyrum came in yesterday evening, and two sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene. After seeing the law enforcement officers, the male suspect fired a "barrage of bullets" both, but only one was hit.

Thirty-year-old Brandon Cunningham was taken to hospital, but doctors were unable to fight for his life.

"Tonight we lost a hero... This is a difficult time for all of us," a local police spokesman told reporters.

After shooting the young policeman, the perpetrator turned his weapon on himself and committed suicide. His identity has not yet been identified.
