The leader of the French far-right party “National Assembly” Marine Le Pen called for new parliamentary elections in France in 2025, reported France Press, quoted by NOVA.

She emphasized today that the political situation in the country cannot last and new elections are needed.

„We are in a system in which the one who won the fewest votes in the elections is charged with the mandate to form a government,”, said Marine Le Pen. It refers to the nomination of Michel Barnier as Prime Minister. He is a representative of the center-right party “Republicans”, which came in fourth place in the parliamentary elections.

The leader of the “National Assembly” expressed confidence that the mandate of the current parliament will be as short as possible and new elections will be held next spring or autumn.

The French president has already said he has no intention of dissolving the new parliament before the end of his presidential term, which expires in 2027. Under the constitution, Macron can dissolve parliament at the earliest a year after the previous dissolution, which was on the evening of June 9.
