Firefighter hospitalized with facial burns

On Long Island in the US state of New York, authorities have declared a state of emergency due to fires, the ABC television channel reported.

The fire broke out on Saturday at around 1 p.m. local time, and three fires have been registered on the largest inhabited island in the continental United States in one day. Long Island is in close proximity to New York. A firefighter was injured while extinguishing the fire, suffering second-degree burns to his face and was taken to hospital.
