China will take decisive countermeasures if other countries declare tariff and trade wars against it, said Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng.
“China firmly opposes any form of tariffs or trade wars, not only to protect China's national interests and dignity, but also to safeguard the international trade and economic order, international justice and fairness“, Xie Feng said, quoted by the Chinese diplomatic mission on its website.
According to the diplomat, if other countries impose "tariff and trade wars" of China, Beijing will retaliate and take "resolute countermeasures".
"In the face of instability and uncertainty in the world, China still remains the most promising super-large market, the main driving force of global economic growth and the best investment destination for foreign investors", said Xie Feng.
The ambassador added that China's development continues to be "a shared opportunity for the whole world".
After a series of steps, the US's additional "reciprocal" tariffs on Chinese goods reached 125%, and China's retaliatory tariffs on US goods were also 125%. In addition, the US has another 20% tariff on China, imposed in connection with accusations of insufficient fight against synthetic drugs.
