Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised “more strikes“ in response to the attacks after a missile fired from Yemen fell near Ben Gurion Airport.

“We are acting against them together with the US. We have attacked in the past, we will attack in the future. “There will be more strikes“, said the Israeli cabinet chief. Netanyahu's statements were quoted by the Ynet portal.

“I can't describe everything in detail, but we will start responding to them“, Netanyahu continued. “This is part of the war“, the Israeli prime minister added.

Earlier on Sunday, debris from a rocket was spotted falling in the Ben Gurion area after being fired at from Yemen, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) press service reported. According to state-run Kan TV, Ben Gurion Airport was closed to takeoffs and landings for about an hour after the attack. The attack triggered air raid sirens in several areas of Israel, warning of a possible missile attack from Yemen. An alert was also issued in the Tel Aviv area.

After the rocket fell in the Ben Gurion area, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said that Israel would retaliate "sevenfold" against those who attack it. According to the Ynet portal, Netanyahu will soon hold an emergency telephone meeting with security ministers and heads of security structures to discuss the missile attack from Yemen. In addition, an Israeli cabinet meeting is scheduled for the evening of May 4, the portal notes.
