A ceasefire in Ukraine is an essential condition for starting peace talks, otherwise there is a risk of repeating the mistakes of 2022. This was stated today by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, quoted by "Agence France-Presse", BTA reports.
"Technically, discussions are planned in Turkey and from these talks we can hope to achieve an immediate, unconditional ceasefire, which will allow peace talks to begin", Barrot said in the Turkish resort of Antalya, where an informal meeting of foreign ministers from NATO member states is taking place.
However, he warned that repeating the mistakes of the previous experience in Istanbul must be avoided.
"The first of these traps is negotiating without a prior ceasefire, because you don't negotiate under falling bombs", the French foreign minister stressed.
