Two helicopters collided in mid-air in Finland, local police reported, NOVA reported.
A total of five people were on board the two planes, which crashed to the ground after the collision over Eura, Western Finland.
„The incident has resulted in several deaths. The exact number of victims and the identities of the passengers are still being established,“ the police reported.
Finnish police confirmed that three people were traveling in one of the helicopters and two in the other. The civilian helicopters took off from the Estonian capital Tallinn and were heading to Piikajärvi Airport in the western city of Kokemäki.
According to media reports, they were carrying Estonian businessmen.
Police have cordoned off the area near the incident as a preliminary investigation is underway. Roads leading to Eura Airport are closed.
“Several rescue teams and police patrols“ were at the scene, police said.
The two helicopters involved in the collision were found about 100 meters apart in a wooded area near Eura Airport. It is not yet clear what caused the collision.
