Turkey Detains Nearly 300 Suspected ISIS Members in Large-Scale Counter-Terrorism Operation

The operations covered 47 provinces and targeted the terrorist organization's financing and propaganda

Turkish authorities have detained 298 people suspected of being members of the terrorist organization “Islamic State“ (ISIS), as part of coordinated anti-terror operations by the police and gendarmerie carried out in 47 provinces over the past two weeks. This was announced by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya in a statement on the X platform, BTA reports.

The operations were carried out under the leadership of the General Prosecutor's Office, with the assistance of the National Intelligence Service (MIT), the Counter-Terrorism Directorate of the General Directorate of Security and other investigative bodies.

According to official information, 159 people suspected of participating in ISIS activities and providing financing for the organization were detained in police operations carried out in 39 districts, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Gaziantep and Diyarbakir.

A further 139 people were arrested in a separate operation coordinated by the gendarmerie and covering 26 districts, including Adana, Antalya, Bursa, Hatay, Van and Tekirdag. They are being investigated for providing financial resources and spreading propaganda in favor of the terrorist group.

Unlicensed weapons, organizational documents and digital materials used by the detainees were seized during the operations.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that the actions against ISIS will continue without interruption, in order to protect public security and maintain internal order in the country.
