Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has accused unnamed European officials of “toxic anti-Semitic propaganda“, which he said contributed to the hostile climate that led to the killing of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington. This was reported by Reuters, BTA reports.

In a statement to the media in Jerusalem, Saar stressed that such propaganda, spread by leaders and officials - especially in Europe - has a direct link to the attack. He said the climate of growing hostility towards Israel was at the root of the murders of Yaron Liszinski and Sarah Lynn Milgrim outside the Jewish Museum in Washington.

“There is a direct link between anti-Semitic and anti-Israel propaganda and this murder“, Saar said. He declined to name specific countries or politicians he was targeting in his accusations.

Saar's comments come amid growing criticism from some of Israel's Western allies, including France and Britain. They joined Canada in warning of possible “concrete actions“ against Israel over the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

US authorities said the suspect in the attack had been arrested and had been chanting pro-Palestinian slogans. The murder was strongly condemned by a number of international leaders, including US President Donald Trump and representatives of European countries.
