Yle: Ukrainians catch Russian drones with fishing nets donated by Denmark and Sweden

Copenhagen has allocated 2.5 million euros worth of fishing nets to Ukraine

Sweden and Denmark have sent military aid to Kiev in the form of old fishing nets instead of weapons. They are being used in the combat zone as protection against Russian drones, Yle reports.

„Video shows Ukrainian soldiers stretching nets between trees in vertical and horizontal positions, which helps to catch fallen drones and ammunition“, the article notes.

Denmark has allocated 2.5 million euros worth of fishing nets to Ukraine. It is specified that when the UK left the European Union, Danish fishermen were denied access to British waters, so these nets were no longer needed by the industry where they were used for their intended purpose.

Private individuals were also involved in the transfer of fishing nets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Bloomberg previously reported that the EU wants to purchase weapons from the US in large quantities to send them to Ukraine. This will happen if Donald Trump refuses to do so directly.
