Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described as "quite dangerous" the statement of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who announced an end to restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine to protect against the Russian invasion, was reported by DPA and Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

These are “quite dangerous decisions, if they were taken“, Peskov said.

Earlier, Merz said that “there are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons supplied to Ukraine, neither by the British, nor by the French, nor by us, nor by the Americans”.

It is not clear whether Merz's comments represent a change or whether he was referring to the use of some Western missiles against Russian territory since the end of last year, DPA notes.

The United States has provided Ukraine with ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km, and Britain and France with “Shadow” cruise missiles storm"/"Scalp".. Berlin is considering whether to provide Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 kilometers.

Moscow had previously warned Berlin not to supply such weapons to Kiev, saying that this would make Germany a direct participant in the war, DPA recalls. Merz did not explicitly mention the Taurus missiles, but said that Ukraine could now defend itself by attacking military positions in Russia. Until recently, it had not been able to do so, the chancellor noted, without providing further details.

Peskov said that the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine was "contrary to Moscow's efforts to find a political solution.".
