The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan confirmed in his Republic Day speech that the country will not be drawn into a new war. With his words, he gave a clear signal for the beginning of a new era of peace and security, the Armenian news agency ARMENPRESS reports, BTA reports.
“Our path to state independence, sovereignty, prosperity and freedom is entering a historically fateful stage“, the Prime Minister said during the solemn ceremony.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia has achieved significant successes in recent years and announced that the terms of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan have already been finalized. The agreement is about to be signed, and consultations are currently underway between the two sides on the timeframe and technical details.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also noted the development of the country's foreign relations. He emphasized the active dialogue with Turkey, the unprecedentedly good relations with Iran, and the strategic partnership with Georgia. Armenia also maintains close ties with Russia and China, while deepening its partnership with the United States and India. According to Pashinyan, relations with France and the European Union have reached their highest level ever.
„The republic and democracy are a reality. Balanced foreign policy is a reality. Sovereignty and independence are a reality. Statehood is a reality. And we must value and preserve these achievements. Behind us is a page of history marked by losses - a promising era of successes is unfolding before us. Pessimism and despair are no longer companions of Armenia. Today, our companions are statesmanship, knowledge of the world, development, and democracy. Peace and security will become long-term companions of the Republic of Armenia. There will be no war - there will be peace," concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
