A small plane crashed into the terrace of a house in western Germany yesterday as it approached an airport in the area, killing two people, the Associated Press reported, quoted by dariknews.bg, citing a police statement.
The crash occurred around noon in Korschenbroich, near the city of Mönchengladbach and not far from the border with the Netherlands.
The aircraft burst into flames, causing significant damage to the building.
A 71-year-old woman who was piloting the plane died. Investigators are working to identify the second victim.
Three people live in the house, two of whom were not in it at the time of the collision.
The plane took off this morning from Alkersleben, near the East German city of Erfurt, and was due to land in Mönchengladbach, less than 4 kilometers from the crash site, when it reported a technical problem, the AP said.
