The Chinese Defense Ministry sharply criticized the United States, accusing it of provocative behavior during the "Shangri-La" security forum in Singapore, Reuters reported, BTA reports.
The reason for the reaction was the statement of US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett, who during the conference described China as a threat to stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
“We categorically express our strong dissatisfaction and firm position against these actions“, said Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang. According to him, the US is using the platform of dialogue to “sow division, stir up tension, provoke conflicts and impose its own interests“.
Zhang warned that if Washington continues to follow this line of behavior, the consequences “will turn against them“.
