A possible fall of the current government in Iran could cause instability not only in the country, but also in the entire Middle East, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned, TASS reports.

"If the central government of Iran collapses, the entire country could also collapse and widespread destabilization could begin," he told Kossuth radio station, commenting on the military conflict between Israel and the Islamic Republic. According to Orbán, in this case the conflict would spread and encompass the entire region - a development that must be prevented.

The prime minister also stated that neither Hungary nor any other country should be interested in such a scenario, because it would inevitably lead to a sharp increase in oil and gas prices on world markets.

On the night of June 13, Israel launched a military operation against Iran, announcing its plans to destroy the country's nuclear and missile programs. Tehran launched a retaliatory attack in less than 24 hours. In the following days, Israel and Iran exchanged blows again. Both sides reported casualties and damage to military and industrial facilities. Russia condemned Israel's actions and expressed its readiness to act as a mediator in resolving the conflict.
