Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed concern about the growing tension in the Middle East, saying that the United States is probably preparing to strike Iran. He also expressed hope for a diplomatic solution.
"I hope I'm wrong, because too many forces are already involved. The third American aircraft carrier with its entire contingent is heading not just to the Indian Ocean, but much closer - to Iran itself, to the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Therefore, I think that the Americans are preparing for an attack, but I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope that this is simply the highest level of threat and pressure. I believe that an agreement can still be reached," Vucic said on TV Prva.
He noted that Europe is trying to offer peaceful solutions, but he is not sure how much they suit Washington. According to him, the Middle East conflict could escalate into a global one, which would lead to a surge in oil prices and inflation.
Commenting on Israel's actions, Vucic said that the operation against targets in Iran was an unprecedented success for the Mossad intelligence service. "As for the conflict itself, we witnessed impressive and incredibly accurate strikes by the Israeli forces. They have three services: Mossad - external intelligence, Shabak - internal, it operated in Gaza, as they consider it internal territory, and the third - Aman, military intelligence. "Mossad did an incredible job: 53% of the targets in Iran were hit from the country's territory, which means they accomplished a task that you can like or dislike, but you have to take your hat off to them: there is no other service like it in the world," the Serbian president said.
He added that Iran, despite the losses, has demonstrated determination to resist and any escalation would be extremely dangerous for global stability.
